Hello! I am the student worker at St Peter’s Chaplaincy.

I am also a PhD student at the University of Manchester, writing my thesis on medieval religious drama and comedy.

Born and bred in East Anglia, I did my first degree in English in the equally flat place of Cambridge. I then worked in a theatre doing marketing, directing and stage managing before finding myself reading Chaucer after my late shifts and deciding to move to Manchester to do my MA and PhD.

I was brought up in Methodist and Anglican churches, but since moving to Manchester I have attended St Peter’s House for around three years. I helped to run the Manchester SCM here during my MA year and I love the fact that at St Peter’s you can share faith, friendship and meals with people from all around the world.

I have worked in a number of interesting jobs, including at a wholefood co-operative, an environmental educational charity, a Catholic college and for Church Action on Poverty. I’ve also been involved with several voluntary and creative projects, including a dramatic production of Mark’s Gospel, a creative writing project at a homeless shelter in Cambridge and planting 500 trees in primary schools. In October I will be travelling to Iona to run a shadow puppetry workshop on healing stories. I’m also the president of Manchester Ceilidh and am part of a blue-faced, top-hat wearing, stick-wielding folk dance group.

Together with Selena, I help to run the Sunday Keep it Simple Service as well as organising a range of events for students. I enjoy drama, dancing, gardening, arts and crafts and, most importantly, tea and cake, so do pop in for a cuppa and a chat.
