Hi there! I’m Wan-Tien, also known as Selena. I was born and educated in Taiwan, a lovely but modern island. I arrived in the UK to study a Master’s degree in Translation and Interpreting Studies at the University of Manchester in 2010. I remember my first day coming to this foreign country with only one pair of shoes, three jeans and a bunch of heavy textbooks. My life was like a blank book waiting to be filled with stories. Soon I found that Manchester is a vigorous and creative city to live. I never thought I would enjoy my life here so much.
Being raised as the fifth generation from my Christian family, I am blessed to have a fruitful church life. I served as the leader of the Student Christian Union and Sunday school teacher at the Presbyterian Church in Taiwan. I’ve joined St Peter’s Church and Chaplaincy at the beginning of my studies at Manchester. This is the place where my new story begins with wonderful fellowship and friendship. My story book keeps filling with fun, touching and life-sharing stories from this warm family.
I am delighted and excited to serve this church as the Student Worker for the Mandarin-speaking and international students. Some of my interests include singing in the choir, playing musical instruments and belly dancing. If you like to meet for a chat, worship, share stories or interests, please look out for me at St Peter’s House. I look forward to welcoming you here!
