MANDARIN COMMUNITY AT ST PETER'S HOUSE

In many Far Eastern cultures the mandarin fruit symbolises abundance and happiness. This is what the Mandarin Community is all about!

Who we are

Open to all Mandarin-speaking students and young professionals, we are a growing community who meet weekly to grow friendships and celebrate our culture and Christian faith. Though many of us are far from home, we find belonging together at St Peter’s House – whilst growing wider connections across the universities and city.

What we do

Led by Annie, Mandarin Community meets weekly for a programme of events focussed on holistic wellbeing, and celebrations of social and cultural occasions. Culturally-appropriate pastoral care and Bible-study in Mandarin, and one-to-one care for students and young professionals is also offered to support the transition into life, study and work in Manchester.

What we do

Getting involved in volunteering at St Peter’s House – such as in Milk & Honey café – and participating in the Wholeness programme – is also a great way to learn about different cultures, and members of the Mandarin Community are involved through all of our activities.  Working and serving alongside people from all walks of life, we become global community together.

We keep in touch on Facebook through the week - making sure that no-one is feeling lonely, especially during lockdown. Join with us and our online community - we’ll make sure you’re up-to-date with all of our activities as well as the wider work of St Peter’s House.

Mandarin Community: St Peter’s House’ Wholeness Programme

Our Wholeness Programme at St Peter’s House is a wonderful and diverse offering for everyone – you’ll find yoga, mindfulness, podcasts, cookery classes and more. Within the programme there is a whole stream recorded in Mandarin, especially for this community! There is a series of meditations exploring the Chinese concept of Wuxing – head over to our Studio Sessions to experience these classes in Mandarin.
